Kazakhstan first ENERGYNET.LAB laboratory for training specialists for the needs of digital energy has been opened at Energo University

The first ENERGYNET.LAB knowledge factory in Kazakhstan was opened on the basis of Energo University (Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev) with the assistance of Tavrida Electric and the Energynet project. The new laboratory will allow to train specialists for the needs of digital energy.

The opening ceremony was attended by Rector of Energo University Murat Kanatovich Syzdykov, co-head of NTI Energynet Oleg Viktorovich Grinko and Director of Tavrida Electric Astana Maharov Bakhruz Kamran Oglu.

M.K. Syzdykov, Rector of Energo University:

"Our university became the first in the country where the ENERGYNET.LAB laboratory started operating. This event gives an impetus to the development of a new direction, lays the foundation for high-quality training of specialists. Based on the laboratory, we will be able to purposefully train personnel for the needs of digital energy, taking into account the conditions of a rapidly changing industry."

O. V. Grinko, Co-head of NTI Energynet:

"We are glad that a new point has appeared on the map of our educational laboratories, the first in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Promising areas of development of the electric power industry are in urgent need of new engineering personnel in the broadest sense of the term: scientists, developers, designers, operational and administrative personnel. Moreover, this need is already being formed in the very near future. Understanding these needs, the educational agenda was allocated in a separate direction in the Energynet roadmap – the educational program "Digital Distribution Electric Networks", within which knowledge factories (laboratories) ENERGYNET.LAB are being created on the basis of energy universities."

A new educational space with an area of 86 sq. m. The m has two rooms – a spacious lecture hall and a classroom for 16 workplaces. The laboratory is equipped with computers with modern software and multimedia equipment. The selection for the ENERGYNET.LAB knowledge factory will be held on a competitive basis, and bachelors of energy specialties from Energo University will be able to participate in it. Students who have passed the competition will have access to the course "Digital Distribution electric networks", and will also be able to participate in research and engineering projects of a technological partner, to practice at the training ground and the federal experimental site "Digital REM". The Digital District of Electric Networks (Digital REM) is one of Energynet's key projects. Its goal is to create a new business model for the electric grid company of the future based on the latest achievements in science and technology.

The ENERGYNET.LAB at Energo University became the first in Kazakhstan and the fourth laboratory opened by Energynet since 2021. The first ENERGYNET.LAB knowledge factory opened in December 2021 at the Belarusian National Technical University (Minsk, Republic of Belarus), in 2022-2023 laboratories were opened at Ivanovo State Power Engineering University and Novosibirsk State Technical University (Russian Federation).

Earlier, the Tavrida Electric company opened its first own plant for the production of innovative complete switchgear in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The plant was launched on February 7, 2024 in Astana.

About partner companies:
