Learning a language means opens all the doors along the way!
On April 17, teachers of the Department of Languages held an Olympiad in Kazakh, Russian, English and German.
The Olympiad in the Kazakh language was dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the outstanding poet, public figure, educator Saken Seifullin. The purpose of the Olympiad is both cognitive and educational in nature. The event is aimed at popularizing the work of S. Seifullin and motivating students to read his works in the Kazakh language.
The work of the Olympiad consisted of two stages. At the first stage (from April 1 to April 7), written literacy of 1st year students of the A1 certification level was conducted on the basis of interactive dictation on LearningApss.org. A distinctive feature of the interactive dictation was the provision of an opportunity for students to independently assess the level of their knowledge and see the number of mistakes made. Students of the A2 level wrote an essay on the topic "My profession", for the B1, B2, C1 levels an essay on the topic "C. Seifullin in the XXI century" (120-150 words).
The winners of the first stage (15 students) took part in the competition for expressive reading of S. Seifullin's poems, and in the final part answered questions about the poet's life and work, demonstrated erudition and a broad outlook.
The competition commission, chaired by associate professor K.O. Azhiev, evaluated the answers of the participants and identified the winners who masterfully recited the poet's poems, answered questions related to his life and work and thereby demonstrated their high intellectual level. At the end of the final stage, the student group EE-23 Yermekova Bota took the 1st place, the student group AM-23 Zhumakhan Mansur took 2nd places, the student group EE-23 Sabitul Alisher took 3rd places. The students were awarded with Blessed pussies in the nominations:" Tugan tilim, the testimony of my life"," Zhuzden zherik"," audience sympathy","the most competent student".
During the Olympiad, the specialists of the University library Zh.Bazarbayeva and A. Nakispekova demonstrated a presentation of slides about the life and work of S. Seifullin. Throughout the Olympiad, students demonstrated a high level of proficiency in the Kazakh language, as well as their love for literature, the state language and the history of our country.
The Russian Language Olympiad was dedicated to the 225th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin. It was attended by first-year students who passed the qualifying round in the format of interactive dictation.
The first stage of the Olympiad consisted of interactive games: "Orthographer" (spelling), "Drummer" (stress in words), "Loosen your tongue" (tongue twisters), "Cirlich Manirlich" (catch phrases) and "Themistocles" (onomastics). During the second stage, students competed not only in knowledge of Russian grammar, but also in areas related to the works of Alexander Pushkin and Abai Kunanbayev.
According to the results of the work of the counting commission and the jury, the list of the best was announced: 1st place – Zeynel Magzhan (AMBP-23), 2nd place – Aruzhan Council (ТЕ-23), 3rd place – Acturin Asset (TE-23). The winners will be awarded with cash prizes. Congratulations to the guys with a brilliant result and we wish them to conquer new heights!
The Olympiad in English and German consisted of two rounds. The selection round was held among university students back in the fall. The students passed a lexical and grammatical test. The students who scored 50% were selected. 19 students took part in the 2nd round of the Olympiad. In the final part, 1. Listening 2. Speaking were conducted.
The organization and procedure of the Olympiad contributed to the popularization of the English and German languages. It was proposed to take into account the massive nature of the Olympiad, the greater interest of the audience and allocate three prizes.
