A branch of the University of Germany based on Energo University opens in Almaty

In September 2024, a branch of the German Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Anhalt) will begin its work on the basis of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev (Energo University). The agreement on this was signed in Germany today by the rector of AUPET Gani Nygymetov and the president of the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Joerg Bagdahn.

The establishment of a branch of the German university is carried out as part of the implementation of the instruction of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to attract leading foreign universities to the country and corresponds to the Concept of development of Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023-2029.

- We are confident that our cooperation with one of the leading universities in Germany, which are among the top five in the field of applied sciences, will contribute to the training of highly qualified specialists for the energy and engineering industries in Kazakhstan, - said Rector of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications Gani Nygymetov.

The branch of the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences at Energо University plans to accept applicants for training in the fields of energy, engineering, information technology and automation. The training will be conducted in English together with German and Kazakh teachers. Graduates will be able to receive two full–fledged diplomas at once - Kazakh and European, which will allow them to increase their global competitiveness.

Professor Eduard Siemens has been appointed Coordinator of the Anhalt University branch in Kazakhstan.
