Industrial Councils on Energy and ICT are being created at Energo University to solve personnel problems
Two industrial councils are being created at once at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev (Energo University) – on energy and information and communication technologies (ICT). Both are designed to become a dialogue platform between business, production and higher education institutions, allowing them to quickly respond to the needs of the labor market when training qualified specialists.
The first organizational meeting of the Industrial Council on ICT was held today on June 25. Business companies, public organizations in the field of IT, telecommunications, information security and digitalization are invited to participate in it. In July, it is already planned to hold the first meeting of the Industrial Council for Energy with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Industrial councils at Energo University are created on the initiative of the new university management in order to develop recommendations on the relevance and quality of educational programs implemented at the university, receive expert and technical assistance in the development of dual education, training specialists in accordance with the needs of the labor market, as well as the implementation of joint scientific and innovative projects.
- Such a dialogue platform allows the university to have an idea about the latest trends in a particular industry, important technological changes, and the required skills to ensure the employment of graduates. We also count on sponsorship from companies and the conclusion of agreements with specific enterprises for targeted training of specialists for them, as well as solving scientific and practical tasks for business," said Gani Nygymetov, Rector of Energo University.
At the meeting, Baizhan Kanafin, a member of the established Industrial Council on ICT, founder and CEO of the well-known Kazakh IT company Documentolog, offered long-term cooperation to open an analog R&D center of his company based on Energo University. Thus, Documentolog became the first company to move to the practical implementation of the tasks facing the Industrial Council.
In addition, the Chairman of the Industrial Council for ICT was elected at the meeting. It was Askar Marat. Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. He worked as the Executive Director for IT of Kazakhtelecom JSC, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan JSC on information technology issues. Currently, he represents the leadership of the NGO "Community of Kazakhstani IT Managers".
