New dual-degree programs and the opening of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute branch discussed at Energo University
Today, the Vice-Rector for International Relations of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Alexander Tarasov, visited Energo University (Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev) with the aim of discussing the development of dual-degree education and the opening of an MPEI branch on the AUPET campus.
The meeting took place within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation signed on May 21 of this year between the two leading energy higher education institutions of Kazakhstan and Russia.
As noted by Gani Nygymetov, rector of Energo University, the universities are linked by long-standing partnership relations, which are now reaching a new qualitative level. The joint work should positively impact the training of qualified personnel not only for Kazakhstan's energy sector but also for other key areas including communications, IT, and automation.
In addition to the two-degree programs that will be launched in the new academic year, and plans to open a full-fledged branch of the MEI in the near future, the participants discussed the upcoming creation of a Center for targeted training of power engineers on the basis of Energo University, where employees of existing production facilities will be able to improve their competence. A day earlier, the opening of this Center was discussed by the Rector of the AUPET Gani Nygymetov and the projector of the MEI Alexander Tarasov with representatives of leading energy companies during a working meeting at the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan chaired by Vice Minister Sungat Esimkhanov.
