A time capsule was laid in Kaskelen at the site of the future university campus

Kaskelen, August 29, 2024 – On the eve of the Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an official ceremony of laying a time capsule at the site of the future Energo University campus (Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after G. Daukeev) took place in the city of Kaskelen, Almaty region. The ceremony was attended by the leadership of the Almaty region, deputy Chairman of the Committee of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akerke Abylaikhan, representatives of the Kazakhstan Electric Power Association, Rector of the University Gani Nygymetov and President of the New York Film Academy Michael Young.

The new campus in Kaskelen is a project of the Almaty University of energy and communications "Future University". Within the framework of the project, it is planned to build two educational buildings with an area of 60 thousand square meters, as well as a hostel with 6 thousand places. The total amount of investments is about 100 million US dollars.

It is assumed that some faculties of the university will be reduced from Almaty to the new territory. This will have a positive impact on the simplification of the metropolis and will be the starting point for the transformation and development of Energo University into a "University of the future", combining engineering and technical education and creative directions.

Rector of Energo University Gani Nygymetov:

- Currently, we specialize in training personnel for the heat and electric power industry, automation, IT, telecommunications and Space Engineering. The opening of the new future University campus will allow the university not only to modernize existing educational programs, but also to become a scientific and educational leader in the region in new areas such as renewable energy, nuclear power, green and climate technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics, cinema, animation and games.

The university intends to develop new directions and specialties in partnership with the world leader - The New York Film Academy. On this day, a cooperation agreement was signed on the future site of the University.

Another agreement was signed here with another strategic partner - Suleiman Demirel University (SDU). The new campus will be located in close proximity to this educational institution, which will make it possible to connect the two higher educational institutions and provide them with a compromise through the exchange of students and teachers, conducting joint scientific research, as well as using a common infrastructure.

To implement the project, the founders purchased the necessary land plots, and design work is underway. The construction period is about 2-3 years.
