Goals

The purpose of the educational program "System and Network Administration" is aimed at training highly qualified specialists in the field of ensuring the operability of local, corporate and global server technologies, system administration, networks and databases, capable of solving any complex tasks related to the installation, provision, configuration, support and protection of information infrastructure of organizations of various scales.

Hard skills

  • Administer operating systems.

  • Be able to work with web servers.

  • Administer databases, maintain their proper functioning and security.

  • Understand containerization processes and related software.

  • Analyze network traffic and infrastructure security and test system security using special software.

  • Keep documentation of incidents and reports on their elimination.

  • Automate routine tasks, monitoring, and correcting common errors.

  • Administer heterogeneous IT systems (hybrid networks, clouds).

  • Ensure fault tolerance and security of the infrastructure. Configure back-up solutions.

  • Automate routine tasks to increase efficiency

  • To monitor and maintain the IT infrastructure and plan system fault tolerance.

  • Ensure the information security of the company, investigate incidents, analyze logs, memory, and disks.

  • Assess risks according to CVSS and OWASP standards.

 

Soft skills

  • Set priorities. For a system administrator, reliability should always be a priority in relation to the introduction of new technologies and optimization. The first priority is to keep the systems running smoothly, then everything else.

  • Be able to "sell" solutions to management. To implement new solutions in the infrastructure, it is important to provide figures to management, justify their value in terms of business objectives, and calculate risks.

  • Stress resistance. A system administrator’s work involves regularly dealing with system errors, restoring non-functioning servers, and promptly responding to incidents. To handle such tasks effectively and maintain psychological well-being, it is essential to stay calm and make well-considered decisions even in the most difficult and uncertain situations.

  • Time management. It is important to properly allocate time to tasks under high load, as well as determine which tasks are the highest priority.

  • Communication. System administrators work in a team, interact with developers and business departments. To work successfully, it is important to be able to speak the same language with everyone, understand the terms, listen and express your thoughts clearly.
