Goals

Training of qualified specialists in the field of design of renewable energy facilities and autonomous power supply systems with the relevant skills and competencies

1. Design of renewable energy facilities and autonomous power supply systems;

2. Autonomous electrical facilities and autonomous power supply systems

ON-4. To master knowledge of modern computer, information technology, software, programming fundamentals and methods for building information technology based on SCADA systems in renewable energy, work in computer networks, find, process and transmit any kind of data and information formats, use various Internet applications, learn the principles of information security.

ON-5 Calculation and selection of semiconductor and converter devices for renewable energy systems, electrical measurement tools, primary and backup types of protection for electric power systems based on complex relay protection devices, control systems and automation of microprocessor and digital systems.

ON-6. Own knowledge of the basic principles of work and parameters of electrical machines, digital and switching electrical devices, know the features of modern electrical materials,  know the features of modern insulating materials for thermal power equipment

ON-7. The mastering of the basic principles of operation, design and characteristics of energy systems based on renewable energy sources, energy conversion systems,  application of methods of the system for monitoring and evaluating wind energy and solar radiation, water resources based on climate data, hydrological calculation and selection of basic equipment for small hydropower plants.

ON-8. The assimilation of the heat engineering principles of work and the energy characteristics of heat power plants, the production and technological modes of operation of heat and power facilities, the development of autonomous systems based on renewable energy sources,   energy storage systems for power reserve, calculation of modes of distributed generation systems.

ON-9 Able to independently carry out installation, repair, commissioning, testing and operation of electrical equipment of renewable energy facilities, installation and repair technology of cable and overhead lines for power supply systems based on renewable energy sources.  Assimilation of standards for technical inspection, methods of prevention and diagnostics of RES electrical equipment 

ON-10. Own the basic issues of calculations in the design and operation of electrical networks, substations, and relay protection for energy systems and renewable energy facilities. Possess knowledge of power supply systems and the properties of lighting installations for indoor and outdoor lighting

Graduates can work in the largest industrial companies of Kazakhstan in the energy sector: JSC “Samruk-Energy”, JSC “KEGOC”, JSC “AlES”; in solar and wind power plants, small hydroelectric power plants, design institutes, state and regional energy companies, where clean green technologies are actively implemented.

Students study in educational laboratories equipped with modern stands, mock-ups, measuring instruments and computers:

- Research and Development Laboratory “Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Saving”, which have modern laboratory stands for wind turbines operating in the grid and stand-alone mode, solar photovoltaic systems.

- educational research laboratories for electric machines; power plants, electrical networks and systems, relay protection of electric power systems, power supply, electric apparatus, converting equipment, electrical materials;

- laboratories of low and medium voltage electrical equipments;

- pilot plants of industry laboratories of the institute;

- digital relay protection terminals of leading electrical equipment manufacturers Siemens, ABB, ECRA, Schneider electrik;

- switching equipment up to and above 1000 V of ABB, Tavrida Electric, Schneider elektrik, Moeller, Siemens, IEK firms;

- computer-television audiences and computer lab classes with special software Power Factory DigSILENT, CHVlaboratory, PS CAD, RastrWIN, MatCad, MatLab and others.
