THE METHODOLOGICAL SEMINAR WAS HELD

“Kazakhstan needs not only engineers and doctors, but also people,

who understand the present and the future well ”.

Nursultan Nazarbaev

One of the new initiatives proposed by the Department of Social Disciplines of the AUPET within the framework of the Rukhani Zhagyru program was a methodological seminar (February 26, 2021) “100 best textbooks in the world translated into Kazakh language”. To organize this seminar, the teachers of the department analyzed the content and quality of books translated into Kazakh.

To implement the program in our university, it is necessary to mobilize our experienced professors and promising young specialists who are easily adaptable to new technologies.

Particular attention should be paid to the publication of textbooks and methodological developments on topical issues based on the 100 best textbooks in the world, translated into the Kazakh language. It is necessary to introduce theoretical knowledge into practical experience, increasing the level of knowledge of students. In this regard, it follows that special elective courses in the educational process should be introduced.

To implement such benevolent and multidisciplinary measures, it is necessary to strengthen ties with other universities and research centers. It is necessary to improve the qualifications of scientists and teachers, exchange methodological experience.

Below are the conclusions of some teaching staff of the department as a result of discussions at a methodological seminar on the implementation of the program "Rukhani Zhangyru" within the framework of 100 textbooks translated into Kazakh.

SCHWAB CLAUS: THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

As part of the implementation of the state program "Rukhani Zhangyru", the project "New Humanitarian Knowledge was launched. 100 new textbooks in the Kazakh language "on the development of social and humanitarian sciences were published.

The faculty of the Political Science and Sociology section in the educational process already use a number of textbooks translated into the Kazakh language. In particular, the following textbooks are used in teaching the discipline Module of Socio-Political Knowledge (Political Science Sociology):

  1. Андерсон Джеймс Э., Мемлекеттік саясат / Э. Андерсон Джеймс. - 8-ші бас. - Нұр-Сұлтан : Ұлттық аударма бюросы, 2020. - 448 б.;

  7. Шваб Клаус, Төртінші индустриялық революция=The Fourth Industrial Revolution / К. Шваб. - Астана : Ұлттық аударма бюросы, 2018. - 200 б.

In general, this literature is recommended for students to study as additional literature, as well as for use in the preparation of semester papers. Students show a noticeable interest in this literature in spite of the fact that the textbooks are written in a scientific language, saturated with political science terminology. Of particular interest was the monograph of the Western researcher Schwab Klaus, The Fourth Industrial Revolution. Klaus Schwab, founder and permanent president of the World Economic Forum in Davos, describes the scale of change as unprecedented in human history. According to the author, changes will affect everyone: a person's relationship with the world, with himself and with other people will radically change. The fourth industrial revolution has enormous potential to increase the standard of living of mankind, to solve many pressing problems, but it also allows for the emergence of new problematic issues.

The fourth industrial revolution is unfolding before our eyes. Some believe that this is a continuation of the "digital" revolution, its new stage, at which technology begins to supplant a person. The beginning of the fourth industrial revolution will change the way of human life beyond recognition. The greatest transformation in the history of mankind awaits us, which will affect all spheres of society. Moreover, many changes are already being seen.

The biggest obstacles to progress in the implementation of Industry 4.0 are: lack of qualified specialists: the functioning of smart factories depends most of all on this type of professionals.

The higher cybersecurity requirements of this type of technology, as while more efficient, factories will also become more vulnerable. As factories become highly automated and governed by computer algorithms, they are more likely to become victims of computer sabotage or information leakage towards competition.

Lack of communication infrastructure: Many of these technologies require access to high bandwidth Internet broadband, which is not the case in many industrial areas (since connecting an industrial area for a small group of industries is not so beneficial for telecommunications companies. Thus, such literature is large interest for studying and acquainting with new trends in the world of science We think that the use of this popular scientific literature in the educational process will increase the interest of students in the disciplines of the humanitarian cycle: political science, sociology and broaden the horizons of students of technical specialties.

FOR THE KAZAKH-SPEAKING AUDIENCE IS AVAILABLE

The English version of the textbook "Aleumettanu negizderi (Brinkerhof D., Veits R., Ortega S.)", published in the framework of the project "100 best textbooks" - "Essentials of Sociology (David B. Brinkerhoff, Lynn K. White, Suzanne T. Ortega , Rose Weitz.) ”Was used by me during the period of teaching the course“ Social Institutions of Modern Society ”back in the 2016/2017 academic year in English groups.

I am very pleased that today this textbook is available for the Kazakh-speaking audience. This textbook, like many other Western textbooks, is distinguished by the fact that it immediately attracts the reader with clear, simple, concrete examples from the real everyday life of an individual, personality and society.

Any person, regardless of whether he / she was born and raised in the West or the East, regardless of upbringing and mentality, has common needs, requirements and interests. As an individual or person, everyone sleeps, eats, gets an education, gets married, has children, adheres to or violates established social norms, enters into social relations, and much more.

In the context of globalization, which is beyond the control and desire of states, common needs, requirements and interests of similar forms of social relations are only intensifying. From this point of view, and taking into account the formation of social and humanitarian knowledge as a science and discipline in the West, I think we can without hesitation use the best textbooks of social and humanitarian orientation, developed by Western authors in the educational process.

“NEW HUMANITARIAN EDUCATION. 100 NEW TEXTBOOKS IN THE KAZAKH LANGUAGE "

February 26, 2021 at AUEC within the framework of the project “New Humanitarian Education. 100 new textbooks in the Kazakh language”, a scientific and practical event was held, within the framework of which the teachers of the Department of Social Disciplines presented new textbooks on the disciplines of the social and humanitarian cycle. Project “New Humanitarian Knowledge. 100 new textbooks in the Kazakh language” is an integral part of the program called“ Bolashaka ba бdar: ruhani zhagyru ”. It was proposed by the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev. The main idea of the program is to create the necessary and high-quality conditions for the full education of students of the Republic of Kazakhstan in history, political science, sociology, philosophy, psychology, cultural studies, and philology.

The emphasis on social and humanitarian sciences is relevant because "Kazakhstan needs not just engineers and doctors, but also people who understand the present and the future well." The implementation of the main ideas of the project in the educational process will allow us to adapt our students to global competition in the field of knowledge and science in general. Our future is being shaped today in classrooms. Students of the present time are explorers of the principles of modernization of public consciousness, the basis of which is: openness, pragmatism and competitiveness. In the coming years, it is planned to translate the 100 best textbooks in the world from different languages in all areas of humanitarian knowledge into the Kazakh language. This will give our youth an opportunity to study according to the best educational models of the modern world educational space.

One of the most important disciplines of the social and humanitarian cycle is "Philosophy". Its relevance is due to the categories with which it reveals its content. The most important of these is worldview. A worldview is a complex form of consciousness that encompasses a variety of layers of human experience - it is able to expand the narrow framework of everyday life, a specific place and time, to correlate a given person with other people, including those who lived before and those who will live later. In the AUPET library there are already several textbooks on philosophy, the authors of which are representatives of the English and French schools of thought. “A Brief History of Philosophy. From Socrates to Derrida."  -  written by Derek Johnston. This book is dedicated to revealing the brightest pages in the history of philosophical thought. It presents the biography and works of 18 famous European thinkers who determined the trends in the development of philosophical thought in general.

The author of the textbook himself, Derek Johnson, wrote on this occasion that “the contribution of these thinkers is so great that thanks to him our consciousness was formed. These philosophers have helped us become who we are today." Based on the description of the life and works of famous philosophers, the author of the textbook reveals the main philosophical ideas and philosophical systems, which are represented by one or two philosophers: Socrates and Plato; Aristotle; Epicurus and Zeno; Thomas Aquinas; Rene Descartes; Locke and Montesquieu; Benedict Spinoza; David Hume; Emmanuel Kant; Karl Marx; Friedrich Nietzsche; Ludwig Wittgenstein; Martin Heidegger; Jean-Paul Sartre; Jacques Derrida. The book is written in a fascinating way and reveals philosophical theories in the context of world historical and cultural development, it presents not only philosophical treatises, but also literary, artistic works and historical events. The narrative about the life and ideas of famous philosophers of different eras is also interspersed with explanations about the basic definitions and philosophical terms.

English philosopher Anthony John Patrick Canney is the author of four textbooks on the history of philosophy. He wrote The New History of Western Philosophy. Philosophy of Antika","New History of Western Philosophy. Philosophy of the Middle Ages” and many other textbooks. A significant part of them have already been translated into the Kazakh language. Anthony Canny's first book presents the fascinating story of the birth of philosophy and its heyday in the Mediterranean during the Ancient Ages. This is the first volume in a four-volume book in which Kenny explores the vast world of Western philosophy in a new way. The ancient philosophy lasted for over a thousand years and led to the emergence of such great minds as Thales, Pythagoras, Parmenides, Socrates, Epicurus, Marcus Aurelius and Augustine. This book was written by one of the leading authorities in the field. Instead of complex, for understanding, generally known facts, for example, about Plato and his cave of shadows, about the ethics of Aristotle, about the Augustinian City of the Gods, the reader sees the main characters through the prism of a man who has devoted his whole life to thinking about the heritage of ancient thinkers. The scientist not only provides an overview of Aristotle, but also criticizes his thoughts. He examines the development of logic and reason, ancient ideas about physics, metaphysics and ethics, as well as the birth of the first thoughts about the soul and God.

The textbook is written in a concise, clear language, with a deep and serious knowledge of the subject. He will help the reader in a true understanding of the work of great philosophers. The second volume is “The New History of Western Philosophy. Philosophy of the Middle Ages”consists of 9 chapters. In the first chapter, entitled "Philosophy and Faith" Anthony John Patrick Kenny examines the teachings of Augustine, after his adoption of Christianity, the philosophy of Boethius, the Greek philosophy of late antiquity, philosophy in the Carolingian Empire, Muslim and Jewish philosophers, Avicenna and his successors, Anselm of Canterbury, Abelard , Averroes and Maimonides. In the second chapter, Anthony Kenny focuses on scholastics from the 12th century to the Renaissance: Robert Grossetest and Albert the Great, Saint Bonaventure and Thomas Aquinas, Seager Brabant and Roger Bacon, Duns Scott and William Ockham, Oxford calculator and the revival of the Platist, John Wickelism as well as the revival of Platonism and Aristotelianism.

From the third to the ninth chapters, as in the first volume, Anthony Kenny devotes thematic sections, which examine various philosophical issues from the point of view of their relevance in the Middle Ages. In the third chapter - questions of logic and language, in the fourth - epistemological concepts, in the fifth and sixth - physics and metaphysics, in the seventh - mind and soul, in the eighth - ethics and in the ninth - God. In the introduction to the second volume, Anthony Kenny writes that most of the histories of philosophy, in this age of specialization, are the work of a team of authors, specialists from various industries and periods. “By inviting me to write single-handedly the history of philosophy from the earliest times to the present day, Oxford University Press expressed the belief that there is something in common connecting ancient philosophy, philosophy of the Middle Ages, philosophy of modern times and modern philosophy, which can be expressed in a single narrative, presenting developing philosophy from a unified perspective, ”says Anthony John Patrick Kenny. There are two different reasons why readers may wish to study the history of philosophy. They may be interested in philosophy, or they may be interested in history. We can study the great philosophers of the past in order to seek enlightenment on the themes of contemporary philosophical research that concerns us.
